Trips and Expeditions
Every year, the school offers approximately 80 school visits. The outdoor activities programme starts in year 7 with weekend hill walking, climbing and caving trips. Whole forms of pupils take part in Shell Camps, a three-day camp in year 7, and this is extended to a five-day hostelling trip in a national park in year 8, Rems Week. By year 9 the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has started. Trips take place in the UK and abroad: there is an annual cycle tour for a week or more in Europe, a visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum and a historical visit to Normandy.
By years 9, 10 and beyond, a major expeditions programme is available with recent destinations including Morocco, Namibia, Honduras and Madagascar. Sporting trips include cricket and rugby tours. There is a range of language visits including immersion in Spanish during a week's cultural stay in Salamanca, together with visits to France and Germany. The full list of trips on offer can be seen here.
