No prizes for guessing who's got an arrow in his eye in this panel from one of the world's great historical documents. Many towns in Normandy were virtually destroyed in the fight following the D-Day landings in 1945, but by great chance the City of Bayeux was re-taken with minimal struggle. The Bayeaux Tapestry, nearly a millenium old, had been secreted away for safe-keeping during the war to the Louvre and survived intact. It resides now behind bullet-proof glass with a splendid audio narration which boys can listen to.

This four-day trip also visits the Agincourt battlefield, the peace museum at Caen and the beautiful sea-side town of Honfleur. Pupils in years 7 and 8 from both King Edward's School and King Edward's High School for Girls take part.
