Morocco and Jordan
Every two years there is an expedition principally aimed at boys in the middle school: years 9 and 10. After a grounding in hill walks, shells camps, rems week and the like, this is a boy's first opportunity to travel to a developing country for a slightly longer period. Examples are our visits to Morocco and Jordan.
In Morocco boys complete a ten day mountain trek culminating in an ascent of North Africa's highest summit, the 4167m Jbel Toubkal. Supported by mules, the trek finishes with bargain hunting in the Souks of Marrakesh.
Our visit to Jordan is a new itinerary, departing Amman for a swim in the Dead Sea and a four day stay in the remarkable Wadi Rum, camping in the desert with Bedouin families. A swim in the Red Sea is followed by the highlight of the trip: a visit to the world famous rock-hewn city of Petra.
