Engineering Education Scheme

03 July 2009

Four potential engineers, supported by Mott MacDonald as industrial partner, were involved in the design and costing of a new sports hotel complex to be built surrounding the Hampshire County Cricket ground, the Rosebowl. The decision between reinforced concrete and steel was arrived at after experiencing manufacture and testing of under and over reinforced concrete beams at Birmingham University and a visit to the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry as part of their residential course. The students, Nick Wood, Edward Chung, Simon Schulz and Matt Bowker, were ably supported by their engineer mentors Titus and Musa throughout. The students did an excellent presentation on the celebration day.
