The school is superbly equipped with ICT resources, including interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, 400 computers and leading edge software. Five classrooms are equipped with class-sets of computers: two general-purpose computer rooms used by all departments, together with the language laboratory, one of the science laboratories and the music technology room. The library is fitted with clusters of computers and has an electronic catalogue; computer clusters are also heavily used in the geography and design and technology departments.
The philosophy at King Edward's is to produce exceptional work in all subjects using computers where appropriate, so that ICT is visible and active in each department and teachers across all departments enthuse about the uses of ICT in their subjects. For this reason, we choose not to study ICT as a separate subject except in Year 7 and Year 9; rather, the resources are used as tools to enhance learning across the curriculum.
