The department offers these subjects to higher and standard level at IB. In addition, the department run Economic Understanding and Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments qualifications as part of the Friday afternoon programme for boys in the first three years and Sixth Form respectively. The department is well stocked with books, DVDs and computational software to aid boys' learning and understanding. Active use is made of ICT to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

Pupils are encouraged to enter competitions including the Bank of England Target 2.0 and Student Investor, indeed boys have progressed to the national finals of the former in the past, enjoying the opportunity to discuss monetary policy with Mervyn King and Charlie Bean. There is an Economics & Business Society that meets to introduce boys to potential career paths that may interest them, as well as supporting their Oxbridge and internship applications. The department runs a range of trips to local and national events to support and develop the boys' knowledge of the trials and travails of a modern global economy.
