Concerts

The music department has regular concerts, many in conjunction with KEHS, to give our all pupils performing opportunities. In the course of the year, each one of the school's many groups has several opportunies to perform. These concerts take place in KES Big School and the KEHS Hall as well as four or five concerts a year in public venues such as an annual visit to Symphony Hall and others in Birmingham Town Hall, St. Philip's Cathedral and the Adrian Boult Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire, the venue for the immensely popular Christmas Concerts. We are very excited that many of our concerts in the future will take place in our own Concert Hall in the new Performing Arts Centre.

In addition to these formal concerts there are monthly lunchtime recitals which give our most advanced musicans an opportunity to perform recital repetoire. We also have a series of informal Instrumental Evenings where boys of all abilities can perform in a relaxed and friendly environment to parents and friends. These evenings are also an opportunity for parents to meet instrumental teachers.

There are two very popular House music competitions which allow boys to show off their musical skills to win points for their House. One is a solo recital and the other, the ‘House Shout' shows off the boys' rock music skills to a packed and enthusiastic audience in Big School.
