King Edward's School Home

An independent day school for boys aged 11 to 18

Catering

The school's dining hall provides food at these times:

  • before school (8.00 - 8.30 am)
  • during morning break
  • at lunchtime

We endeavour to provide healthy food that the boys will eat. Breakfast ranges from toast and fruit juice to a cooked breakfast. At morning break, a time when very many boys eat, there are sandwiches, our own home made (and incredibly popular!) "Subs," burgers, fresh fruit, hash browns, baked potatoes, homemade cakes, lasagne, cheese on toast, ravioli, cups of homemade soup with brown or white bread rolls. At lunchtime, all the above are offered with the addition of a traditional main course with vegetables or salad selection. Daily we have eight main course choices to suit all tastes, to include meat, poultry, vegetarian and fish. Fresh vegetables are served whenever possible or a salad bar selection, if preferred. Every day a hot sweet with custard, and for those who prefer something lighter there are fruit, yoghurts, melon or home made cakes. There are also drinks machines in the Dining Hall which sell water and non-fizzy fruit drinks. We are trying to discourage boys from eating unhealthy food.

Boys can pay for their selection in cash, or with Dining Hall vouchers. These can be bought any morning before school in the Dining Hall.

The Catering Manager, Mr Peter Webber, welcomes parents' comments or if you have anything you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact him on 0121 415 6019.

Boys can also bring a packed lunch to school and they should eat it in the Dining Hall.

There is also a school shop which is open at break and lunch and sells food similar to that on offer in the Dining Hall.
