The Design and Technology Department at King Edward's School has been very successful over the years in gaining prestigious Arkwright Scholarships for boys showing an interest in Design and Engineering.
The Arkwright Scholarship Trust is an independent Charity founded in 1991, taking its name from the British innovative engineer Sir Richard Arkwright who harnessed water to power his mills where the factory system was also developed.
The Trust aims to encourage a beneficial partnership between education and industry which helps to promote the subjects of Maths, Design and Technology, Engineering and Science. Successful Scholars receive a small financial award to help support project work during their post sixteen studies and also gain advice and guidance from their sponsor.
Past Arkwright Scholars at King Edward's School have gone on to study Engineering at some of the top universities in the country including Oxford and Cambridge.
